A couple weeks ago I put together a Three Tune Tuesday with some fun rock n' roll from the early to mid 1970's. To completely honest it's a bit before my time, but the music is just so good it's hard not to dig in a little deeper. Today I'll be doing just that, digging in much deeper into three bands out of Great Britain in the early 1970's. These bands changed the world of rock for the next half century and continue to be an influence on bands even today.

But first off I want to say thank you to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event where you can share three songs that you enjoy. One lucky participant will win some HSBI units, you can't have too many of those! So if you don't already participate feel free to jump in, just use the tag #ttt or #threetunetuesday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @ablaze .

Let's get into today's selections, three classic songs that everyone can enjoy. First up a little Led Zeppelin:

Led Zeppelin

Formed in 1968 in London, England and they came from a band known as the Yardbirds. Why is that interesting? Another well known artist Eric Clapton came out the same band! Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest rock bands of all time until they permanently disbanded in 1980 upon the death of their drummer from alcohol poisoning. It's sad how often the death of a band member has ended so many great bands over the years...

There are so many great songs to choose from, but only one for today. And I'm in the mood for "Immigrant Song":

Black Sabbath

Formed in Birmingham in 1968, they started out by a very different name, the Polka Tulk Blues Band. The following year they changed to Black Sabbath to make them distinctive with the occult sound of the name. Fronted by the late Ozzy Osbourne they went on to become one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Last year they reunited on last time prior to the death of Ozzy all knowing that his end was near, and still put on one hell of a show.

Here is a classic from 1970 called "Paranoid":

Deep Purple

This band is the only one of three that is still in existence. Well, at least in some form or another. They initially formed in 1968 in London, England. Drummer Ian Paice is the only original member of the band remaining as a band member. Several different lineups have been together over the years and several other big bands have been formed from past members. Two big ones being Rainbow (featuring Dio) and Whitesnake (featuring David Coverdale.)

But back when they started out I think they made the best music. One of my favorites has always been "Space Truckin'" from 1972.
