The Splinterlands team is well known for naming some of their card creations after celebrities or characters over the years. The card Taye Loreswift is a great example of them paying credit to some of their favorite celebrities. Recently they have added Pit Battles to the Frontier mode , and there are three bosses you can choose to challenge. One of those is The Big Leronski, being of normal difficulty, but pays tribute to the great movie from 1998 The Big Lebowski.

It you haven't seen it yet, it's well worth watching. It has Jeff Bridges and John Goodman at their finest. The main character in the movie is "The Dude" Lebowski from which the name is derived. But moving on with the post...

First off, a couple of accomplishments, I did unlock Gold I which was exciting! I wasn't really focusing on this goal and it kind of snuck up on me, then of course I immediately went on a massive losing streak... lol

And my alt account once again proved very lucky in the weekly Frontier drawing, pulling a black foil Nim Guard Captain. For some reason that alt account is extremely lucky and gets all sorts of good pulls from the weekly draws. My main account isn't nearly so lucky, to the point I could almost swear it was cursed...

So one more black foil added to the collection!

Now onto the focus of today's post. In order to be able to play Pit Battles you must first complete the seven battle challenges under Campaign Mode. Under Play you will find the option and just need to click it.

Then select Battle Challenges and you are on your way.

After you beat all seven you will be able to take on one of the pit bosses if you get a lucky spin on the wheel of Lux's Favor. You can get one daily wheel spin and you have to land on the space I have circled in order to get a challenge battle!

There will be three bosses you can choose to battle, one easy, one normal, and one hard. The first time I did try the difficult level and didn't fare all that well. So, on my second opportunity, I chose normal difficulty to take on The Big Leronski.

Let's jump into the action, this is one tough guy to defeat!

For my team I chose Marlai Singariel as archon as she adds one magic attack to all magic monsters on your team. I then chose Port Guardian as my tank followed by Great Bear Druid. Next up I placed Aimee Whisperwind before placing my next magic monster Saltwater Mage. For my last two I chose A'lan Musketeer and Mystic Scaleweaver. Overall a pretty good team with a high amount of attacks.

On the other side The Big Leronski has 66 health, seven shield, and speed of three. Then he has a huge melee attack of six which is very dangerous. His abilities include Phase, meaning a magic attack has the same chance of missing as would a melee or ranged attack. He also has Strengthen giving him one more health point, and Return Fire which retaliates against any ranged attack. This is one tough dude...

By round two we have broken his shield, so making headway!

By round three I am really chipping away at this health, but my tank is about to go down and the Return Fire is killing off the Musketeer.

Image from thread

By round four he has killed off two of my team and with his massive attack and I am in trouble...

Image from thread

It only takes one hit to take out the Druid!

Image from thread

By round five I'm down to the last three.

Round six and I finally have him on the ropes, with two cards left and he only has three health remaining!

Image from thread

However, he has Phase meaning my magic attacks can miss and they do!

Image from thread

Round seven he is still alive and kicking!

And finally my Mystic Scaleweaver delivers the final deathblow. The Big Leronski is down for the count! That was a tough battle, and in retrospect I wouldn't have used the Musketeer due to the Return Fire. But I failed to notice that ability during my team selection.

And I receive 500 Sparks for my win. These can be traded in at theSpark Shop for cosmetic skins for your Foundations cards. So you don't earn any SPS, but it is still fun to battle a pit boss!

That will do it for today's post, and I do hope you enjoyed seeing a Pit Battle if you haven't yet played one. The are a lot of fun and very challenging! Plus you can earn some more Sparks toward those cosmetics skins! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you so much for all of your support. It really is deeply appreciated! Have a great Thursday everyone!
