Back on January 13th Splinterlands introduced some new Foundations Jackpot Cards. It was rather exciting as it is the first time the card set has been expanded. They can only be won by completing the daily rewards by winning matches. Initially there was a 1.5% chance of pulling one, but that number has since been increased to 2%. I have been playing both of my accounts daily in hoped of finally getting the lucky pull!

From experience I knew that my primary account wouldn't be the one to get the luck. Why, you may ask? When I started playing back before the Chaos era I never pulled a gold legendary reward card on the account despite playing daily. I did have a secondary account I had set up for a scholar once upon a time who never really got started, so eventually I started using it as well. Not long after I started using it I pulled a gold legendary reward card almost immediately! Go figure... For some reason my Big Higg account has never gotten the lucky pulls.

Fast forward to the end of last week and what happened on my secondary account? Jackpot Card!

I anxiously pressed reveal all and pulled a rare death Jackpot Card!

The Necrulencian Thief was a card I was excited to pick up. Although to be honest I wasn't sure how it was going to fit into my playing strategy.

It has a base speed of 3 which never increases, a base attack of 2 which increases to 3 at level 3, then at level four picks up Poison. That allows a 50% chance of poisoning a target after an attack. It's health starts at base 5 and increases to 6 at level 2 and has the sneak attack ability. The biggest challenge to the card being the 8 mana required to summon it.

So time to see it in action!

Now for some battle action using the new card. I have been battling with it on my alt account to no avail or even remote success so far. I also picked up a gold copy on the market for a great price from the proceeds from card sales for my primary account. That's the copy you will be seeing in this battle, and it is a level 2 vs the standard level 1 in regular foil (for full disclosure.)

This is a very close battle, which are always the most fun to watch!

You can see the whole battle at this link.

First off the rule set for this match was shielded up so all units get 2 shield units automatically. It also has a max of four cards to use with a mana cap of 41. Being eager to make use of the new card I went with the death splinter with Thalgrimore as my archon that decreases the health of the opponents monsters by one. I chose Nim Guard Captain as my tank since he has lots of armor and protects from magic attack with the void ability. I then went with Sorrow Harvester to decrease the health of my opponents monsters by one more unit. Third I chose Little Sister for life leach and the flying ability, and rounded off with Necrulencian Thief.

My opponent went with the fire splinter to have the speed advantage which is always a good thing to have. The archon was Barthalamas with the usual fire tank of Frank Arsgard. Next chosen was Chaos Furybringer with reach ability followed by legendary Agniavan Salamander and rounding off with A'lan Musketeer. Really a pretty good setup!

By round 2 not much had happened but the battering of armor, except the musketeer was in weakening health.

Early in round 2 my tank goes down, not looking very good for me right now!

However, the magic attack helps even things out and well as the sneak attack from Necrulencian Thief.

Little Sister is not looking so good...

But life leach brings her back from the brink temporarily.

Things are starting to look pretty good for me right about now. Only a couple hits away from victory with six health remaining!

At this point I really thought I had my opponent beaten. I mean, what are they chances of another miss? Two in a row?
Image from thread

Apparently high enough that I got another miss and it sealed my fate. Necrulencian Thief went down for the count... You can't win them all, and as a matter of fact I can't seem to win any of them using this card so far. Oh well! I may need to have it leveled up to max level to be of any real use in Frontier Mode?

One of these days I will find a way to use this card, but so far success has eluded me. But still a fun new card to mess around with for sure!

Opening Six Foundations Packs

Just for fun I though I might also share my last pack opening. It was pretty awesome rendering me two legendary cards, an archon, and two gold cards that are somewhat valuable. Have a look:

First off I pulled a Great Bear Druid legendary card. As I have mine maxed out he went right up for sale. The Kicking Roc epic card was a nice addition too!

Here came my biggest surprise, not one but two gold copies of Vicious Quillian. They went right up for sale. The Giam Root was a great pull as well, another legendary card! I also pulled Barthalamus the fire archon which was nice. Overall this was a great pack opening, it doesn't get a whole lot better to be honest!

Splinterlands is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will wrap up my post for today, I do hope you enjoyed seeing my first Jackpot Card pull. I was excited, and it was definitely cool that is was a rare rather than the common card. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. I really do deeply appreciate it! Have a great week everyone!
