I hope everyone has had a great weekend. Sunday is always the day I have dedicated to my HSBI giveaway since it's inception almost a year ago. Over time I incorporated DUO tokens in shortly after I helped create them along with @bitcoinman and @bulliontools . Now I'm branching out and have added in some BBH tokens and have a few more I may be adding in coming weeks since an anniversary is fast approaching. The one year anniversary of this initiative is coming up, I never thought it would have been around this long. I thought interest might wane but instead it's become more popular than ever. Thanks for making that possible everyone, it feels good to help people grow their Hive accounts!

Last week I asked another food based entry question, which was about your favorite vegetable. We had 41 valid entries, I used to be happy if I got ten! Before we get into the winners, I put together a review of some of the top choices, and some that I like a lot even though they weren't at the top of the list. lol The king of veggie town is apparently the potato!

Potatoes

The most chosen as their favorite this week was the humble potato. It's origin story is in Central America and northern South America, it was brought back to Europe by the Spanish conquistadors and soon spread around the world. You can make so many good things with them from baked potatoes, mashed, riced, and of course the best of all fried! I'm not sure how they became called "French" fries, I'll have to look that up.

Don't those pictures look amazingly tasty, probably not healthy, but they sure would taste great! Thanks for this choice by @thisismylife , @angeluxx , @olaf.gui , @tortangkahoy and @elias22 !

Broccoli

Another vegetable that many love to hate, but I love it. I remember a Simpson's episode where Homer dies after eating broccoli, only to eat the same piece again as a ghost and dies again... Broccoli is awesome, especially stir fried. There are several different types, I like broccolini a lot, it's good stuff and grows well in the my garden! Thanks for participating @alexvan , @lumpiadobo , @monsterbuster and @ronnie10 !

Carrots

newscientist.com

Carrots are really good, and there are so many different varieties that all have just a little different taste. I loved the above picture because it shows just how many different colors you can find besides orange! These are great raw and cooked, and I use them frequently in my cooking here at the house. Great pick by @blitzzzz , @cositav , @longganisan and @pablito.saldo . Thanks for participating!

Onions

Time for the onion lovers! @gwajnberg , @henruc and @monkmasters chose this as their favorites. There are so many different kinds of onions and I love them all myself. Especially when they are grilled with butter and caramelized. Yummy! Also great on burgers or sandwiches, also a staple of any soups I cook up here at home. Awesome choice guys!

Fennel

tastingtable.com

Many may not know what fennel is, but it's an amazing root vegetable that has a slight anise flavor to it. It is really good cooked up with Kalamata olives, and goes well with just about any meat from pork to fish. One of my favorites as well, but it's always hard to find a good price on it here in the US. It's far more common in Europe and probably less expensive, but I may be wrong! This was picked by @servelle , thanks for participating!

Eggplant

steamykitchen.com

@doombot75 and @okarun have this as their favorite vegetable. Growing up we never had these at my house, but after trying eggplant parmesan I became a big fan. They have to be cooked right, but they can taste amazing! Great choice!

Artichoke

Image from thread
foodtasia.com

One of my absolute favorites is artichoke hearts, they are so good. @mmonline apparently agrees with me! I always have them with my salads and even cook up an entire artichoke when I can find a good price on them. That's getting harder and harder to do anymore. Just like everything else they are getting really expensive!

Corn was the favorite of two of our contestants today, @helicreamarket @silvertop . I love fresh corn on the cob, nothing quite like it. I found that picture and now I want to try it out, grilled corn with parmesan cheese, how could that go wrong? Thanks for a great pick you two!

I wish I had time to feature everything today. Surprisingly very few people picked tomatoes which are among my favorites, thanks @sagra97 for picking them. One dish recommended by @idea-make-rich was cauliflower and potato curry, that sounds awesome. I'll have to try that one out!

Other picks include asparagus by @sylmarill which I also happen to love. I wish it weren't so expensive most to of the time... Cauliflower did have two participants say it was their favorite, @bitandi and @whywhy . @dewabrata is a fan of seaweed which I love in sushi, good stuff! My friend @ekavieka likes young fern which is a green leafy vegetable popular in Bali. Green beans are also really good, but only @florakese picked them, you have great taste!

Lettuce was a chosen by @logen9f and @hatdogsensei . Cucumber by @flummi97 and @geneeverett , and spinach by @lanzjoseg . Peas were @freed99 's favorite, I love them fresh, but canned, yuck! Bok Choy was the pick by @rqr4 . Choy sum was chosen by @vaynard86 . @suisver went with sugar beets which are really good too! There is only one I had a hard time finding, that's yáncin picked by @satiro , you may have to show me a picture. I've been to Venezuela and still had no idea what it is! lol

This week's entry question:

Now for today's entry question:

The Giveaway

I will be giving out one prize of five (5) HSBI. Second and Third prizes will be 2 DUO tokens, the token I recently launched with @bulliontools and @bitcoinman . It offers those who stake sufficient tokens daily curation on quality posts, dividends, and a tipping bot. It also helps to onboard and retain new Hive members. At the end of the post there is a link to the white paper and where to purchase the tokens. Fourth prize is 100 BBH tokens. To participate you need a reputation level of at least 25 and bots cannot win. And please one entry per person to make it fair to everyone.

@alohaed is generously kicking in two HSBI to the second place winner and one to the third place winner. Thanks for you support my friend!

If you would like to be placed on a weekly reminder list just let me know and I'll make sure you get tagged each week.

How to Enter

Every week this will change. I'm looking for engagement rather than just saying "I am in". There is no need to upvote or re-blog, although if you choose to do so I would appreciate it. This week's question should be fun:

Today is World Whale Day, yes apparently everything has it's own day now. To celebrate the day, what is your favorite kind of whale? Non crypto of course... lol

Choosing the Winners

All valid entries will be placed on the Wheel of Names and I will spin it four times. The first prize will be 5 HSBI units. The second and third prize will be two DUO tokens. Fourth prize will be 100 BBH tokens. And since I am spinning the same wheel four times in a row it is theoretically possible for the same person to win all four prizes! Although I have yet to see it happen, maybe this week?

Deadline

One week from today which will be Sunday February 23, 2025 at 8 A.M. California Pacific Time.
