This is something weird and hilarious I learnt today.
So, there's this somewhat credible rumour that back in the late 1940s Stalin had ordered the secret collection and analysis of the feces of foreign leaders like Mao.
The main purpose of this super secret poop collecting unit was to gain insight into the health and personality of the targets. The operation became public knowledge thanks to former Soviet agent Igor Atamanenko who supposedly found about it while doing research in the archives of the Russian secret services.
The stinky operation was run by the NKVD the
predecessor of the KGB.
The samples collected were analyzed to deduce character traits, signs of physical or mental illness, hormonal imbalances, stress etc. For example, if the feces were found to be high in Tryptophan it was concluded that person was calm and approachable. Similarly, a lack of potassium was seen as a potential case of insomnia.
Essentially a profiling method using poop 💩 😂
You probably wonder how the feces were collected in the first place.
Simple. When they had special guests the soviets would have them use special, regular looking toilets which were connected to collection boxes instead of the sewage system.
One famous case of a leader that was profiled with the method was Mao Zedong when he visited to Moscow in 1949.
