What's up plebs?

Been taking a break from posting silver...I was hoping that by now I would have my #silvergoldstackers secret santa package but I guess Santa got jammed in all the mail panic of the days 😂

So, here's another German piece from my collection

Looks like we have a dude with slick hair called Johann Gottfried Herder. Apparently, he was big in philosophy, theology and bs like that so naturally I haven't heard of him before:

Johann Gottfried von Herder (25 August 1744 – 18 December 1803) was a German philosopher, theologian, poet, and literary critic. He is associated with the Enlightenment, Sturm und Drang, and Weimar Classicism. He was a Romantic philosopher and poet who argued that true German culture was to be discovered among the common people (das Volk). He also stated that it was through folk songs, folk poetry, and folk dances that the true spirit of the nation (der Volksgeist) was popularized. source and further reading

The coin was minted in 1994 in commemoration of the 250th years since his birth.

So yeah, not much else going on this side. Now let's check the imperial eagle on the other side

Nice one! Another cool eagle for the flock 🦅

As expected, we have an engraved edge

It reads HUMANITÄT IST DER ZWECK DER MENSCHENNATUR for HUMANITY IS THE PURPOSE OF HUMAN NATURE

I did some digging on the quote, apparently it's not by him but Chatgpt thinks it aligns on his philosophical views as it resonates with Herder's emphasis on the value of humanity and the interconnectedness of individuals within their cultural context. Yawn 🥱

Coin Value
So, when it comes to melt value we have 15.5 g of 0.625 silver. That's about today 8 $ with today's spot, which is 0.78$ per gram.

These coins are pretty common, they go for about 10$ on eBay if you want to score one.

Ok plebs, this is it for today! Nothing exciting about today's piece unless you are a fan of this guy!

See you soon with more silver!
