@dbooster has been running a cool series of posts these days dedicated the US penny, as a farewell to Trump's decision to halt the halt production of the penny due to the high production costs. Feel free to check his profile to read said posts and maybe give him a follow :D
Anyways, I thought to piggyback on his series as I happen to own a lot of US penis!
These are my three most "interesting" pieces:
But what's so special about them?
Let's first start with these two babes:
Notice how their color is a bit different! Not the usual copperish but more gray like!
That's because they are 1943 steel cents! Due to the needs of WW II copper had become exceedingly scarce and expensive so that year the US mint replaced the standard bronze alloy recipe with zinc-coated steel.
Btw, here is a fun facts about them. They are the only regular-issue United States coin that can be picked up with a magnet. According to numista, steel pennies start from 20 cent and upwards depending on their condition so I'd say they have aged quite well!

Nothing special about this one. It just happens to be the oldest penny I have in my small collection of US coins, I figured it was worth a mention, lol 😆
