To be honest, seeing a club reject that kind of money shows just how highly Atletico value the Argentine forward. In today's football market, €150 million is not a small amount, yet Atletico didn't hesitate to say no.
According to reports, Real Madrid formally submitted the offer after a board meeting, but Atletico responded by referring them to Alvarez's release clause. In other words, they are making it clear that they are not interested in negotiating and would rather keep one of their most important players.
What makes this even more interesting is that Alvarez has also been linked with Barcelona in the past. It seems that several top clubs recognize his quality and would love to have him in their squad.
