Arsenal have shown once again why they cannot be ignored in the Premier League title race. After Manchester City suffered their first league defeat of the season against Aston Villa in the early kickoff, Arsenal had the perfect opportunity to close the gap, and they did exactly what was expected of them by beating Everton 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

What impressed me most about this game as a football lover was Arsenal's ability to take advantage of the situation. These are the kinds of matches that can make a real difference over the course of a long season. When your closest rivals drop points, you must be ready to respond, and Arsenal did not waste their opportunity.
The opening goal came in the seventh minute through Ezri Konsa, who found the net from a corner. It was not the most beautiful goal we will see this season, but goals like that are important. Arsenal have often been praised for their attacking quality, yet their ability to score from set pieces is another weapon that makes them dangerous opponents.
Everton tried to remain competitive, but they struggled to create enough meaningful attacking opportunities. Their biggest chance came before half-time when Thierno Barry failed to capitalise on a defensive mistake. Against a team as organised as Arsenal, missing such opportunities can be costly.
One thing I noticed was how Arsenal managed the game after taking the lead. They did not need to play spectacular football throughout the match. Instead, they remained organised, limited Everton's opportunities and waited for another chance to put the game beyond reach.
That second goal arrived in the 68th minute when Gabriel Magalhães headed home from Ben White's cross. Scoring on his 200th Premier League appearance for Arsenal made the moment even more special. His determination to continue after an injury scare also demonstrated the fighting spirit Mikel Arteta wants from his players.
For me, this victory was about more than three points. Arsenal have now collected seven wins from their opening eight league matches and moved level on points with Manchester City. That tells us how competitive the title race could become if both teams maintain their current form.
However, I still believe consistency will be the biggest test. Winning comfortably against Everton is encouraging, but the real challenge is maintaining that standard when injuries, difficult fixtures and pressure begin to take their toll.
Everton, meanwhile, need to improve their attacking performance. Their defensive work had some positive moments, but they cannot expect to get results against the strongest teams if they fail to make their chances count.
