I have to admit, Brazil gave me a real scare in this match.
When Japan went ahead in the first half, I honestly started thinking we might be about to witness one of the biggest upsets of the tournament. Japan deserved a lot of credit because they didn't just sit back and defend. They played with confidence, stayed organized, and made life very difficult for Brazil.

At halftime, Brazil looked a bit lost. They had plenty of possession but weren't creating enough clear chances. It felt like Japan had frustrated them, and the pressure was beginning to build. As a fan, those are the moments when you start checking the clock every few minutes and hoping someone produces a bit of magic.
Thankfully, the second half was a different story.
Brazil came out with much more energy and purpose. They pushed Japan deeper and deeper until Casemiro finally found the equaliser. At that point, I felt the momentum had completely shifted, but Japan still refused to give up. They defended with everything they had, and for a while it looked like extra time was the only outcome.
Then Martinelli happened.
The winning goal in the 96th minute was a perfect example of why you should never write Brazil off. Bruno Guimarães deserves a lot of praise for staying calm instead of forcing a shot. His pass to Martinelli was excellent, and the finish was even better. The celebration said it all. Relief, joy, and pure emotion.
As happy as I am with the result, I don't think Brazil can ignore some of the problems that showed up again. The midfield was open too often, and stronger teams will punish those mistakes. The attack also still feels like a work in progress. They created chances but don't yet look completely settled with who should lead the line.
Still, one thing this team has is character.
Not every victory has to be beautiful. Sometimes winning is about showing patience, believing until the final whistle, and taking your chance when it finally arrives. That's exactly what Brazil did against Japan.
Now the focus shifts to the Round of 16. The competition only gets tougher from here, and Brazil will need to improve if they want to go all the way. But if this comeback has given them confidence, then the rest of the tournament could become very interesting.
What impressed me most was not the quality of the football, but it was Brazil's refusal to give up. And sometimes, that's the difference between a good team and a team capable of winning the World Cup.
What are your thoughts? Did Brazil show the mentality of champions, or do you think their weaknesses will catch up with them in the knockout rounds?
