I expected Brighton to make a bright start to their European campaign, and that was exactly what they did against Kauno Zalgiris. Winning 4-0 at the Amex Stadium was a convincing way to begin their Conference League journey, and honestly, I was not surprised to see them perform well given the quality in their squad.

For me, it was not just about winning the match but also how Brighton approached it. They played with confidence, controlled much of the game, and continued looking for goals rather than becoming comfortable after taking the lead. That attacking mentality was one of the things I enjoyed about their performance.
Rutter Was the Main Attraction!
Georginio Rutter was undoubtedly one of the standout performers. Scoring twice and providing an assist, he played a major role in Brighton's victory. I particularly liked how he contributed to the team's overall attacking play instead of focusing only on scoring goals.
Jack Hinshelwood also deserves credit for finding the net on his return to the side, while Matt O'Riley added the fourth goal with a header. Seeing different players contribute is always encouraging because a team cannot depend on one individual throughout a long campaign.
Brighton also kept a clean sheet, which was another positive. Although their opponents struggled to match their quality, maintaining defensive concentration remains important.
Can Brighton Go All the Way?
I believe Brighton have reasons to feel optimistic about their European campaign. They have now won five consecutive matches across all competitions, and that momentum could prove valuable as the season progresses.
However, I would not rush to call them champions based on this performance alone. The Conference League will present tougher challenges, and those matches will show whether Brighton have the consistency and defensive strength to compete for the trophy.
For now, they have done exactly what was expected of them. Fabian Hurzeler will be pleased with the result, but the upcoming Premier League derby against Crystal Palace will offer a different kind of test.
