‎Many football fans can be very quick to judge players. One bad performance, a poor run of form, or even a few disappointing matches can suddenly make people forget how good a player really is. That was the situation Kylian Mbappé found himself in before France's World Cup opener against Senegal.

‎In the weeks leading up to the tournament, there was plenty of criticism directed at the French star. Some people questioned his recent performances, while others focused on his attitude and work rate on the pitch. There were even debates about whether he was still the player France could depend on when the pressure was at its highest.

‎For a while, it looked like those doubts might continue. France struggled badly in the first half against Senegal. Their attack looked flat, chances were limited, and Senegal seemed more likely to score. Mbappé was not having much influence on the game either, which only gave more reasons for his critics to keep talking.

‎But one thing I have noticed about top players is that they often respond when people start doubting them and that's the case of kylian Mbappè.

‎The second half was a completely different ball game. France came out with more energy and purpose, and Mbappé started to show his class. Even after seeing a penalty appeal rejected and a few chances go begging, he kept pushing forward.

‎And his breakthrough finally arrived when he finished brilliantly from a Michael Olise pass to give France the lead. It was not just an important goal for the team but it was also a historic one. With that strike, Mbappé became France's all-time leading goalscorer, moving ahead of Olivier Giroud.

‎As the match approached its end, Senegal managed to pull one goal back, briefly creating some tension. However, Mbappé quickly ended any hopes of a comeback with a stunning long-range effort that flew into the net. It was the perfect way to finish the game and silence many of the people who had been questioning him.

‎What stood out to me most was his response to the criticism. He did not answer with interviews or social media posts. Instead, he answered on the pitch, which is often the best response any footballer can give to the doubters.

‎At the end of the day, criticism will always be part of football. The best players are not the ones who avoid criticism but they are the ones who rise above it. Against Senegal, Mbappé reminded the world exactly why he is regarded as one of the biggest stars in football today.
