There are some football moments that make you stop and reflect on how quickly time flies. For me, Cristiano Ronaldo's announcement of his retirement from international football is one of those moments. It is difficult to imagine Portugal playing without seeing their legendary number 7 representing them on the biggest international stages.

After more than two decades of representing his country, Ronaldo has finally decided to bring his international career to an end. At 41, he leaves behind a legacy that will be difficult for another player to match.
Just think about what this man has achieved. He made 234 appearances for Portugal and scored an incredible 146 international goals, making him the highest goalscorer in men's international football. He also helped his country win the 2016 European Championship and the 2019 and 2025 UEFA Nations League titles.
These are not achievements that should be taken for granted. Behind those numbers are years of hard work, sacrifices, discipline and an incredible desire to remain at the top of the game.
I know football fans have different opinions about Ronaldo, especially when comparing him with Lionel Messi. But honestly, I believe we should sometimes put those arguments aside and appreciate what these two legends have given football. We may not witness another rivalry like theirs for a very long time.
What even makes Ronaldo's announcement interesting is that he is not retiring from professional football. He will continue playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, with his attention now turning towards club football and his ambition of reaching 1,000 career goals.
I personally hope he achieves that milestone before finally hanging up his boots. It would be another remarkable chapter in an already extraordinary career.
For Portugal, though, they might give the number seven jersey to another player but replacing Ronaldo will never be easy. You cannot simply replace experience, leadership and a player who has carried the hopes of millions of supporters for more than two decades.
One thing I have learnt from watching Ronaldo is that talent may open doors, but discipline and consistency help you remain relevant and stay on top.
Thank you, Cristiano Ronaldo, for the memories.
