As a Chelsea fan, one thing I want to see from this club is a defence that can give us confidence week after week. We have seen how defensive problems can cost a team important points, and if Chelsea truly want to compete for major trophies again, strengthening that department should be one of our priorities.

‎That is why the reported interest in Jarell Quansah has caught my attention.
‎
‎Chelsea are reportedly considering making an offer for the 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen centre-back in January. From my perspective, I think this could be a good move for the club, especially if the manager believes Quansah has the qualities needed to improve our defence.
‎
‎I personally like the idea of bringing him to Stamford Bridge. At 23, he still has room to develop, and signing a young defender who can grow with the team could benefit Chelsea in the long run. However, I don't want us to sign players simply because they are young or because their names are appearing in transfer rumours. We need to be sure they can handle the pressure of playing for a club like Chelsea.
‎
‎For me, the biggest question is Wesley Fofana.
‎
‎I have honestly started wondering whether Fofana still has a long-term future in this Chelsea team. His quality has never really been the issue for me; but the concern is whether he can stay fit consistently enough to help the team. A defender can have all the talent in the world, but if he is frequently unavailable, it becomes difficult for the manager to build a reliable defensive partnership around him.
‎
‎I don't know what Chelsea's final decision on Fofana will be, but I believe the club must start planning for different possibilities. We cannot afford to enter every new season hoping that our defenders will remain fit without having reliable alternatives available.
‎
‎That is where Quansah could come into the picture. If Chelsea believe he has the right mentality, defensive awareness and potential to adapt to the manager's system, then I would support bringing him in. He could provide competition for places and give the manager another option when selecting his defensive line.
‎
‎Of course, signing him would not automatically solve every problem at the back. He would need time to adapt, and Chelsea must carefully consider whether he is the right fit for the team.
‎
‎My position is simple: I would welcome Quansah to Chelsea, but I want us to sign him for the right reasons. We need defenders who are dependable.
