What impresses me most about Rogers is not just the numbers, although scoring and creating goals in back-to-back Premier League seasons is no small achievement. It's the way he is developed over the last couple of years. Every time I have watched Aston Villa, he has looked more confident, more involved, and more willing to take responsibility when his team needs something to happen.
He is also not the type of player who can only do one job. Whether he's playing on the wing or through the middle, he looks comfortable with the ball and is not afraid to drive at defenders. That's something Chelsea have been missing at times. Having a player who can fill different attacking roles gives the manager more options throughout the season.
Another thing that should not be overlooked is his experience. For someone who is only 23, Rogers has already played in Europe, experienced high-pressure matches, and represented England. Those are valuable experiences, especially for a player who is still improving.
Even though, football is not as simple as signing a good player and expecting everything to click immediately. We have seen plenty of talented footballers struggle after making big moves. Chelsea is a club where expectations are always high, and every performance is judged closely. Rogers will have to deal with that pressure from day one.
Still, I think this transfer makes a lot of sense. Chelsea are not buying a raw teenager who needs years of development. They are bringing in someone who has already proved himself in the Premier League while still having plenty of room to grow.
