I won't lie, seeing Mykhailo Mudryk back in a Chelsea shirt put a smile on my face.
When he came on against Juventus in the closing minutes of the friendly, it was not about how many touches he had or whether he created a goal-scoring chance. For me, the biggest moment was simply seeing him back on the pitch after everything he has been through over the last year and a half.

Football moves so fast that it's easy to forget how difficult it is for a player to spend such a long time away from the game. While the rest of the squad continued to play and improve, Mudryk had to watch from the sidelines. That could not have been easy, especially for a player who was still trying to establish himself at Chelsea before everything came to a halt.
I have always had a soft spot for Mudryk because he is one of those players who brings excitement whenever he gets the ball. His pace is frightening, and he is not afraid to run directly at defenders. Yes, things have not always gone according to plan since he arrived at Chelsea, but we have all seen flashes of the talent that made the club spend so much money to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Now, it almost feels like he's starting from scratch.
I don't expect him to become Chelsea's best player overnight. After being away for so long, he will definitely need time to rebuild his fitness, regain his confidence, and adjust to the speed of the game again. There will probably be good performances and disappointing ones along the way, and that's perfectly normal.
What I hope Chelsea fans do is stay patient. Players coming back from long absences often need support more than criticism. Confidence can make a huge difference, especially for someone like Mudryk, whose game depends on taking risks and expressing himself.
Chelsea's attack is already packed with quality players, so nothing will be handed to him. He will have to fight for every minute on the pitch, and I actually think that challenge could bring out the best in him.
For me, this was not just another pre-season appearance. It felt like the first page of a brand-new chapter. The past is behind him, and now he has the opportunity to remind everyone why Chelsea believed in him in the first place.
I'm genuinely rooting for him. Hopefully, this comeback becomes one of those football stories where a player overcomes adversity, silences the doubters, and finally fulfills his potential in blue.
