‎Football can be funny sometimes. You can watch a team dominate for 45 minutes, only to see the same team struggle after the break. That was what made Manchester City's 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad Stadium so much interesting to me.

‎Honestly, I expected a tough contest between these two sides, but I didn't expect PSG to make City look so uncomfortable in the first half.
‎
‎Desire Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, and Vitinha scored as PSG took a three-goal lead in the first half. What impressed me was not just their finishing, but how they moved the ball and exploited the spaces City left behind.
‎
‎City struggled to press effectively, and their defensive shape seemed to fall apart whenever PSG moved forward. Against a team with so much technical quality, giving attackers time and space to make decisions is dangerous. PSG took full advantage.
‎
‎For me, this is where City's biggest problem began. Their players seemed too far apart, making it difficult to close down spaces or recover possession quickly. You cannot expect to control a match when your opponent keeps finding ways through your midfield.
‎
‎However, I must give City credit for their response after halftime.
‎
‎Erling Haaland scored twice, and suddenly, the game became much more competitive. City played with greater urgency, attacked more directly, and started putting PSG under serious pressure. Hitting the woodwork twice also showed that they were capable of making the comeback even more uncomfortable for the visitors.
‎
‎I think the second half demonstrated the importance of tactical adjustments. City looked more threatening when they increased their attacking intensity instead of allowing PSG to dictate the tempo.
‎
‎Still, creating chances is one thing; converting them is another as they ate so wasteful in the second half. City missed opportunities that could have changed the outcome, while PSG took advantage of their defensive mistakes to score a fourth through Maghnes Akliouche.
‎
‎I believe PSG deserved the victory because of their first-half dominance and attacking quality. However, City's second-half performance showed that the difference between these teams was not as wide as their early struggles suggested.
‎
‎My biggest takeaway is simple: against top European teams, a poor 45 minutes can cost you the entire game.
