‎Honestly, seeing Rodri in a Barcelona shirt is going to feel strange.

‎For seven years, Manchester City fans watched him grow into one of the most important players in the team. Now, he has decided that it is time for a new chapter, with Barcelona paying £65.4 million to bring the Spanish midfielder back home.

‎I think this is one of those transfers where you can understand both sides.

‎From Rodri’s point of view, he has already achieved almost everything he could have dreamed of at Manchester City. He won major trophies, became one of the best midfielders in the world and even lifted the Ballon d’Or in 2024. After seven years, maybe he simply felt that it was the right time to try something different.

‎What I really liked about his comments was the way he spoke about City. He did not sound like someone who was trying to erase his past. In fact, he made it clear that his connection with the club will remain.

‎That says a lot about the relationship he had with Manchester City.

‎But let's be honest, City fans are probably not going to enjoy seeing him leave. Rodri was not just another midfielder. But he was one of those players who could completely change the way the team played. His ability to control the midfield, win the ball and dictate the tempo made him incredibly important.

‎Now comes the big question: who replaces Rodri at Manchester city?

‎Replacing a player like that is not simply about buying another defensive midfielder. City will need someone who can handle the pressure and bring balance to the city midfield just like Rodri provided.

‎For Barcelona, though, this could be a very exciting signing.

‎Rodri knows Spanish football, has plenty of experience at the highest level and still has the quality to make a difference. His leadership could also be useful in a Barcelona team that wants to compete for every major trophy.

‎Personally, I think Rodri has earned the right to make this decision. Seven years is a long time at one club, and sometimes a player simply needs a new challenge.

‎His heart may still be blue, as he said, but now he has a new colour to wear.

‎It will definitely be interesting to see what Rodri can achieve at Barcelona.
