‎After waiting nearly three decades to see Scotland back at the World Cup, Scottish fans finally had a reason to celebrate. It wasn't the most convincing performance, and there were definitely some nervous moments, but a 1-0 win over Haiti gave the Tartan Army the perfect start to their tournament journey.

‎Going into the match, both teams had something to prove. Scotland were making their first World Cup appearance since 1998, while Haiti were playing in the competition for the first time since 1974. That alone made the occasion special for both sets of supporters.

‎The game started with Haiti looking surprisingly dangerous. They played with confidence and attacked quickly whenever they won the ball back. Scotland had more possession, but it often felt like Haiti were creating the more threatening situations. Their pace and energy caused plenty of problems, and for a while it looked like Scotland were struggling to settle into the game.

‎The hot weather certainly didn't make things easier too. Players from both teams looked exhausted at times, and the hydration break came at the perfect moment. Scotland seemed to benefit from it the most because they returned looking much more organized and focused.

‎Just a couple of minutes later, they found the goal that would decide the match. Che Adams helped create the chance with some good movement and link-up play before forcing a save from Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide. Fortunately for Scotland, the rebound landed kindly for John McGinn, who reacted quickly and lifted the ball into the net.

‎From that point on, Scotland looked more comfortable, but Haiti never stopped fighting and keep coming at them. They kept searching for an equalizer and came very close late in the game when Frantzdy Pierrot's header drifted narrowly wide of the post. There was also some controversy near the end as Kenny McLean escaped what some felt could have been a red card challenge.

‎In the end, Scotland won't care how pretty the performance was. The most important thing was getting the three points. After such a long wait to return to the World Cup, starting with a victory is exactly what they needed to boost their confidence.

‎Though, the tougher challenges are still ahead, with Brazil and Morocco waiting in the group stage, but this win gives Scotland confidence and something to build on. For their supporters, it was a day worth remembering.
