Hello Hives,
People often say that a friend in need is a friend indeed, and I never really understood the depth of that saying until I finally experienced it myself.

Like many people, I have had several friends over the years. Some came and went, while others only stayed around when everything was going smoothly. But one particular friend proved to me that true friendship is about showing up when life becomes difficult.
There was a period in my life when almost everything seemed to be falling apart. Money was tight, things were not moving the way I had hoped, and I was under a lot of pressure trying to provide for my family. To make matters worse, we were living in a place that was not giving us peace of mind. I wanted us to move, but I simply couldn't afford it then.
During that season, this friend Banky (Bankole) loke I used to called him never for once stopped checking on me. Sometimes he would call just to ask how I was doing. Other times, he would visit, sit with me, and encourage me not to give up. He never made me feel embarrassed about my situation. Instead, he reminded me that difficult times don't last forever.
What I will never forget was the day he decided to support me financially. I was not expecting it, and I didn't even ask him. He simply saw my struggle and chose to help. Along with support from a close family member, that kindness made it possible for my family and me to move into a better apartment.
That moment stayed with me, not because of the money itself, but because someone believed in me when I was beginning to lose confidence in myself. His actions spoke louder than any motivational speech could have.
Since then, my understanding of friendship has completely changed. I no longer believe that the best friend is the one who is always around during happy moments. A real friend is someone who stands beside you when life gets hard, even when they have nothing to gain from helping you.
That experience also challenged me to become a better friend. Whenever someone around me is going through a difficult time, I try my best to be there. I may not always have money to give out, but I have learned that sometimes listening, encouraging, or simply showing up can mean more than we realize.
While looking back now, I feel grateful for having someone like that in my life. Genuine friendships are rare, and when you find one, you should value it. Life will definitely always have its ups and downs, but knowing that there is someone who has your back makes the journey a little easier.
I'm thankful for that friendship because it didn't just help me through a difficult season but it also changed the way I see people, kindness, and life itself.
Thanks for Reading
