‎Hello Hives,

‎I was thinking about something recently, and it made me ask myself a question: when I try to look good, who am I actually doing it for os who am I really impressing?

‎Is it for myself, or because I want other people to see me in a good way?

‎Honestly, I think most of us have asked ourselves this question at one point or another.

‎There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good. I like looking neat and presentable whenever I can. A fresh haircut, clean clothes, a nice appearance or even just taking a little time to take care of yourself can make a person feel different.

‎Sometimes, you don't even need anybody to compliment you. You just look at yourself and think, “Yeah, I feel good today.”

‎And I think that feeling is important.

‎The problem starts when we begin to depend too much on other people's opinions.

‎Social media has made this even harder. We see people looking perfect in pictures, wearing expensive clothes, travelling to beautiful places and showing what seems like the best part of their lives. Before we know it, we start comparing ourselves with them.

‎We begin to wonder whether we are attractive enough, successful enough or even good enough.

‎But the truth is, we can never satisfy everybody.

‎Someone will like the way you dress. Someone else will criticize it. One person will think you look great, while another person may not see anything special.

‎So, if our confidence depends on people's opinions, we will always be looking for approval.

‎That is why I believe the phrase “beauty begins with us and comes from within us” carries a deeper meaning.

‎Looking good is great, but what is inside us matters even more.

‎Kindness, humility, honesty, patience and the way we treat people can make us beautiful in ways that a mirror cannot show.

‎For me, I would rather look good because it makes me feel comfortable and confident than spend my whole life trying to impress people.

‎People's opinions will change. Trends will change. Even our physical appearance will change as we grow older.

‎But the person we become on the inside stays with us.

‎So yes, take care of yourself. Dress well. Look neat. Smile. Do whatever makes you feel good.

‎Just don't forget to take care of your heart too.

‎Because at the end of the day, the most important person you should be able to look at and feel good about is yourself.
