‎Sometimes It’s Not That Love Is Gone, Bills Just Got Bigger 😂 ‎

‎Hello Hives,

‎I think one funny thing about growing up is that you slowly realize that love is not the only thing you have to think about anymore.

‎When I was younger, if I had N100k, I could easily spend part of it on food, take someone out, buy a gift or just decide to enjoy myself. There wasn't too much thinking involved.

‎But as you grow older, life starts adding things to your head.

‎Rent.

‎Food.

‎Family.

‎Transport.

‎Bills.

‎Business.

‎Future plans.

‎And those unexpected expenses that always seem to appear when you are already broke. 😂

‎That same N100k that once looked like serious money for enjoyment can suddenly finish before you even understand what happened.

‎This is why I sometimes understand why some people become less romantic as they get older. It doesn't always mean they have stopped loving their partner.

‎Sometimes, they are just tired.

‎Sometimes, their mind is somewhere else.

‎You might be sitting with your partner, but your brain is busy calculating how to pay the next bill. You are thinking about what will happen next week, how to sort out that debt, where the next money will come from and how to make sure everybody at home is okay.

‎Then your partner looks at you and says, “You don't do these things for me anymore.”

‎And honestly, that can hurt because they may not know what is going on inside your head.

‎They only see that the dates have reduced.

‎The gifts have reduced.

‎The surprise outings are no longer happening.

‎The sweet messages are not coming as often as they used to.

‎But inside your head, there is a whole financial meeting going on. 😂

‎A man can actually be lying on the bed and still be thinking about money. Even when he looks like he's sleeping, his brain may still be working.

‎How do I pay this?

‎How do I settle that?

‎What happens if another expense comes tomorrow?

‎That is adulthood for you.

‎But I also believe we should not allow bills to completely kill romance. Not every romantic gesture needs money.

‎Sometimes it's just checking on your partner.

‎A hug.

‎A kind word.

‎Cooking together.

‎Sitting down and talking without phones.

‎Even saying, “I know things are hard right now, but I'm still with you,” can mean a lot.

‎Maybe that is one reason our parents didn't really carry romance on their heads. 😂 They had bills too, and plenty of them.

‎At the end of the day, growing older doesn't necessarily make someone love less.

‎Sometimes, life simply gives them more things to carry.

‎And when your hands are full, even showing the person you love how much they mean to you can become harder than it used to be.
