‎Hello Hives,

‎If there is one thing almost every student can relate to, it's hunger. Not the kind where you skip breakfast because you are rushing to class, but the serious type that makes your stomach feel like it's fighting a battle. That was an experience I had in school, and I don't think I will ever forget it.

‎It happened during one semester when things were really tough financially. I had used the little money I had on school expenses, hoping I would receive some support from home in a day or two. Sadly, that money did not come when I expected it.

‎At first, I kept telling myself I could manage. I drank plenty of water to trick my stomach into thinking it had something inside. It worked for a while, but by the next day, hunger had completely taken over. Sitting through lectures became difficult because I could not focus on what the lecturer was saying. My mind was fixed on only one thing and that's definitely food.

‎The funniest part was that everywhere I turned, someone was eating. The smell of rice, beans, and fried chicken from the food vendors around campus seemed stronger than ever. It almost felt like the whole world was mocking me.

‎I was too embarrassed to ask anyone for help. I kept smiling whenever my friends asked if I was okay, pretending everything was fine. Deep down, I was just hoping the day would end quickly.

‎Luckily, one of my closest friends noticed something was off. He asked if I had eaten, and after denying it a couple of times, I finally told him the truth. Without making me feel ashamed, she simply took me to a nearby restaurant and bought me a plate of food.

‎I can still remember how grateful I felt after that meal. It was not because it was the best food I'd ever eaten, but because it came at the exact moment I needed it most.

‎That experience taught me a few important lessons. First, never assume everyone who looks happy is doing okay. Some people are fighting silent battles. Second, always try to manage money wisely because emergencies can come without warning. And finally, never underestimate the value of a good friend. Sometimes, one act of kindness is all someone needs to get through a difficult day.

‎I never want to experience that kind of hunger again, but I appreciate the lesson it taught me. Looking back now, it made me stronger, wiser, and more willing to help others whenever I can.

That's my response to the #hscp-WK53
