There are some matches in Splinterlands where the Rulesets or the available mana/elements significantly limit the players' possibilities, creating completely predictable directions for both. In these cases, you should try to devise a strategy that somehow overcomes these limitations to surprise your opponent.

A classic example is rulesets like Up Close and Personal https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/3/31/Combat-rule_up-close-personal.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/25?cb=20210401145641 that force the player to use one type of damage, but it’s possible to choose cards like Quora Towershead or Drybone Raider that have two types of attack to build your team, overcoming the limitations imposed by the ruleset and breaking the opponent's expectations.

There are other abilities that also work well as a "Trump Card" in situations with many limitations, and in the match I will share with you today, I will highlight one of these abilities. The match in question had few elements available, low mana, and only allowed one type of attacker.

Among the available elements, I was torn between Earth https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/a/a4/Splinter-earth.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/15?cb=20210212224207 and Death https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/splinterlands/images/7/76/Splinter-death.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/15?cb=20210212223936 because I have great summoners in both to protect the team against Magic Damage Image from thread. As summoner, my main options were Immortalis or Mimosa Nightshade to give the entire team the Void Image from thread ability, but for this to work properly, I also intended to use as many cards with the Silence Image from thread ability as possible to reduce the maximum damage from the opposing team.

Evaluating the two compositions I put together, I realized that there was a good chance the opponent would also completely reduce the damage of my cards, leaving me dependent on luck to win this match. In my second composition, even though I didn’t choose any real Tank card, the fact that I combined two Silence Image from thread with the Void Image from thread from the summoner would likely ensure the survival of Elven Mystic. Moreover, the Goblin Psychic would manage to extend its life with its Tank Heal Image from thread.

This entire setup was designed to be able to fit these two debuffs with a third card capable of dealing damage regardless of the situation, and this is where Doctor Blight shines! With Poison Image from thread as a guaranteed DPS, Blight would be my main source of damage regardless of the opponent's debuffs. Additionally, it would also serve as a secondary Tank due to the possibility of increasing its life with the Scavenger Image from thread ability. Considering all this, the second option undoubtedly meets more requirements to achieve victory in this battle.

Battle.

As you can see, my prediction was accurate, and the compositions were quite similar. The main difference is that the opponent opted for a card with Recharge Image from thread to try to apply burst damage, while I went for the DPS option using Poison Image from thread. In the very first attack, Doctor Blight managed to apply its two debuffs, which would ensure a great advantage in the match because the sooner the effects were applied, the greater my chance of winning (after all, not dealing any damage for 3/4 rounds could be enough for my cards to be eliminated).

As expected, the constant damage from Poison Image from thread ensured a clean victory in this match and showed me that I made the right choice. After all, if I had chosen Mimosa’s option, Suidae Shaman would have been able to deal 1 damage every 2 rounds regardless of the debuffs, which would eventually lead to my team’s defeat. Fortunately, none of that happened 😆.

Felizmente nada disso aconteceu 😆.
