Telegram has been on fire in the last few months and I mean it on a very positive way. It's slowly but constantly rebuilding into a new WEB3 platform, including its very own "apps store" and namespace, among many other nice features.
And that "namespace" is what brings us here today, because there's an increasing interest on buying usernames for miniapps, which is a big deal cause these usernames work as the domain name on a regular website.
The huge difference is that, instead of a central entity managing domain names, on the decentralized telegram ecosystem, everyone owns its usernames forever, or until one decides to sell it.
And when I say everyone, I really mean it. You can go today and start grabbing telegram usernames FOR FREE, then put them for auction with the minimum bid you simply think it's worth. They're usernames being auctioned for tens of thousands and this is just the beginning.
I've finally sold my first one today, and it was awesome to see how smooth it was. A random guy just hit me with some questions about a name I own since years ago, and we just did the trustless exchange on fragment(dot)com, the web site being used for such market. This was my first sale on Fragment, and now that I know for sure it really works, I'm telling you how to do it.
Tutorial
So, here's the step by step on hoy to get some names AND put them for auction.
First, we have to create a 2FA method on our account. If this is the first time you do it, you'll have to wait 7 days before you can start selling usernames, but you can go now and create some, before someone else does.
- Tap the 3 bars menu, then Settings.
- Select Privacy and Security
- Two-Step Verification. Here you have to follow telegram's directions. Once you're done, follow the next step
- Tap the 3 bars menu again.
- Hit "New Group".
- Pick at least one user you can create this group chat with and tap the blue circle down right.
- Give it a name and tap the blue circle down right again.
- Open the group chat and tap its name.
- Now tap the pencil.
- And select Private.
- Now select Public Group.

This is the first crucial step. On "Public link", you hace to type the username you want to grab. Make sure it's something short, catchy and worthy. No one will buy "areallyfastman", try instead "fastman", or "faster".
After you create a new username, you have to wait 7 days to be able to list it for auction, but you can follow the next steps to have everything set up already.

Open your web browser and go to fragment(dot)com. Tap Connect TON. Now we'll create a wallet so you can really own your new username and whatever the TON amount you sell it for, if you ever do it.
- Now hit the big blue button.
- Hit the new big blue button.
- This is the second crucial step. You can back up your wallet via email, but that's the dumbest thing you can do on the internet. Please take a few minutes to manually back it up and hit "Back Up Manually". Write down on a paper the 24 given words, this is very important.
- Now you have to prove you properly back them up. And hit next.
- Big blue button again.
- You finished setting your wallet up. Now you have to connect it to fragment, so you can sell your username and Money goes automatically to your wallet.
- Done.
- It's going to show your wallet, but you have no more business here right now. Go back to fragment on your browser.
- Hit the 3 bars menu.
- You can see your wallet connected on the top, now you want to hit Connect Telegram to... connect your Telegram account to fragment.
- Pick your country, write down your phone number and hit next.
- Now go to Telegram and open the new message. Then tap Confirm.
- You'll get a new message saying your logged in. Then go back to your browser.
- Tap ACCEPT.
- Now it's all set up for you to place an auction on every username older than 7 days. Tap the 3 bars menu.
- Here you'll find your usernames. Hit "@ Convert to Collections"
- Now choose a name and tap "Place an Auction"
- Open bot.
- And go to Telegram and Hit Confirm Auction.
- One last confirmation.
- Type the password your created on the 2nd step and hit the blue button.
- You can tap "Return to Fragment" or simply go back to your browser.
- Third crucial moment. Now set a Minimum bid. Generally this is the TON amount you'll get for your name, but it's an auction, so you could actually get more. Then hit Create Auction.
- Close.
- And that's it. Your username is up for auction and you can remove it whenever you want to (before anyone bids for the first time).
Last words
Now you can go back to steps 5. to 12. and grab as many names as you find available. Every time you get a new one, you just have to wait 7 days and place them for auction (by following steps 30. to 36.)
