Basically, everyone loves money and wants to have an abundance of it, and from a tender age, we've come to strive to earn it because it's widely known and recognized as a legal tender for trading and transactions. I wasn't born with a silver spoon, so I quickly recognized the need to have money given the basic things I lack due to our financial status, and that led me to indulge in a mania job just so I could earn some money to meet my needs and, as well, relieve my parents from the pressure of working tirelessly to sustain my siblings and me.

Aside from the fact that probably when I was much younger and it was the festive season, some elders and relatives could give us monetary gifts as a token of appreciation during that season, that wasn't really enough to do anything, but as I grew up, I began to delve into some jobs around our vicinity to earn some cash, and one of my earliest memories of working and getting paid was cutting grass for neighbors in our community.
When we moved to Ogun State from Lagos, it was a new site where many were relocating, and most people ain't used to cutting grass that overgrew on their land since they came from Lagos, a populated area where you'll hardly see overgrown grasses due to the population of the place and how people regularly thread on the path, so I and one of my childhood friends, Kehinde, usually walk around the neighborhood asking if they needed our service to help them cut the overgrown grasses on their yard.
Then we usually charge as little as 2000 naira for half a plot of land if the grasses aren't too high, but when they're too high, we might charge 4000 naira and above, depending on our conversation with the person, and a plot of land usually costs them 5000 naira and above, depending on how high the grasses are. This isn't an easy task at all, and it sometimes takes us two to five days to complete that portion of land.

Probably because we're very young and the fact that we're using cutlass to cut the grasses, unlike some elders that have machines used for cutting grasses, this isn't a very means of earning money at all because the constant use of the cutlass makes me have sores on the palm of my hands, not forgetting how the task is done under the scorching hot sun, making us sweat profusely and exhausted.
Although it was very difficult, we kept on doing it because we needed the money and had loads of needs. But that particular idea gave me a picture of how difficult it's to earn money, and I really usually wish I was from a rich home back then, because some of my friends don't have to do all that, and yet they've got enough money to spend that was given to them by their wealthy parents.
Well, that's life for you. I'm grateful for my life journey and the lessons I learned because they're what shaped the person I'm today and the resilience I possess. That's about it for today. I hope you enjoyed the read. This is my entry for the India United weekly prompt. You can click on this link to see the topic and particulate as well.
