Giving back to society and helping people in need should be what life is all about. We as members of our societies must do what we can to spread positivity. The hive blockchain is a web3 platform that has proven without a doubt that it has use cases and applications in the outside world. Just like we saw in the last few months with the hive rally car and we have been seeing with the hive bore holes, hive is doing a lot outside of the social media world and students have not been left out of this.

Last month on the 7th of November, @abdul01 led a team for a hive sponsored project in Bimbila Senior High School on the Northen region of Ghana. On the Saturday, Abdul organized us hivians in the North and we onboarded a bus to Bimbila. The journey was quite long because the route wasn’t a smooth one but we managed to get to the senior high early. The school was already aware of our coming and so before we got there, the school had already got the students seated awaiting our arrival. That was very refreshing.

We got into the hall occupying the students and introduced ourselves to them. Abdul served as master of ceremony for our event whilst @depressedfuckup spoke on behalf of hive.

Depressed gave a very pleasing introduction and explanation of what the hive blockchain is, how one could sign up and contribute to its growth. A lot of the students had questions about the kind of contents they could share and got answers to all.

After that first session by Hamza that was followed by questions and answers, the independent parliamentary candidate in the person of Mr Kamil Bamanpong gave a talk on the career opportunities the students could pursue with the courses they were studying and motivating them on knowing what exactly they wanted to pursue in the tertiary institutions. He also encouraged them to listen to the message we had for them and try out new opportunities presented to them.

After Mr Kamil’s speech, we held another questions and answers segment. This session wasn’t limited to hive related questions alone but opened to questions about whatever the students had in mind. It was however, pleasing to see that the students took our message well and asked hive related questions and also about the courses we pursued in the universities.

Some students even said they wanted to be like us when they grew up and we encouraged them that they could be even better than us. All they need to be on hive is internet connectivity and a good device to share their contents and skills with the hive community.

We then distributed the hive branded souvenirs we had for them and other stuff that would help them in their stay in school. They were very excited to receive hive books and t-shirts as well as sugar and some foodstuff.

We gave out our contacts to them but we are not expecting their calls till they vacate. They are still in school but will be going on vacation very soon for Christmas.

Myself, @abu78, @rubilu, @depressedfuckup, @shamsudeen13, @abdulbasit20 and some friends interested in joining hive were those in attendance for the event. I would like to thank all the sponsors from hive who made this possible. @playmaker1 and @nhaji01 wanted to join us for this event but unfortunately due to some reasons, they couldn’t make it.

Thank you.
