After hijacking the presidential train and taking a small detour to defeat Diablos, it's finally time to continue our mission with the Forest Owls.

The plan seemed simple: kidnap the President of Galbadia and use him to negotiate Timber's independence.

We successfully captured his train. Everything appeared to have worked exactly as planned.

So now there's only one thing left to do...

Meet the president.

Except there's a small problem.

Something is definitely wrong with him. ๐ŸงŸ

๐Ÿš† The Perfect Plan... Or Maybe Not

When we finally confront President Deling, the situation immediately becomes suspicious. His appearance, his behavior, and even the way he speaks make it obvious that this isn't going to be the political confrontation the Forest Owls expected.

And then the truth is revealed.

The man aboard the train isn't actually President Deling.

He's a body double sent to deceive the resistance.

But even that isn't the strangest part.

Our fake president suddenly transforms into a grotesque undead creature, turning what was supposed to be a kidnapping into one of the weirdest battles we've encountered so far.

Welcome to Final Fantasy VIII. ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐ŸงŸ Fighting Gerogero

After confronting the fake president, we eventually face Gerogero, an undead monster that looks completely out of place compared with the political intrigue surrounding Timber.

That's exactly why I love moments like this.

One minute we're participating in a carefully planned resistance operation involving trains, codes, and political negotiations...

The next minute we're fighting what basically looks like a zombie president.

Classic Final Fantasy.

The battle also reminds us that understanding our enemy can be just as important as having powerful attacks. Undead enemies work differently from normal monsters, giving us another opportunity to experiment with the game's magic and combat systems.

๐ŸŒŽ Things Are Getting Bigger

What seemed like a relatively straightforward first SeeD mission is becoming increasingly complicated.

Timber is occupied by Galbadia.

The Forest Owls are desperately trying to regain their independence.

President Deling clearly knows that resistance groups are targeting him.

And now we've discovered that Galbadia is willing to use decoys to stay one step ahead.

Squall and the others are no longer simply students following orders from Balamb Garden.

They're becoming involved in something much bigger.

๐Ÿ’ญ Final Thoughts

After several episodes preparing for this moment, we finally confronted the President of Galbadia...

Well, sort of. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Instead of capturing President Deling, we walked directly into a trap and ended up fighting an undead monster impersonating him.

Our carefully planned train operation hasn't produced the result the Forest Owls wanted, and the real president is still out there.

But that's exactly what makes this part of Final Fantasy VIII so entertaining. Every time you think you understand where the story is going, something unexpected changes everything.

The mission in Timber isn't over.

In fact, it feels like it's only beginning. ๐Ÿš†โš”๏ธ
