After exploring the Tomb of the Unknown King and adding Brothers to our collection of Guardian Forces, it's time to return to our main objective. The detours are over, our party is stronger, and now the story begins moving toward one of the most dangerous missions we've received so far.
We are preparing to defeat Sorceress Edea.
Until recently, Squall and the others were simply SeeD students completing missions and helping the resistance in Timber. Things have changed incredibly fast. We've witnessed Galbadia's growing influence, watched Edea appear before the world, and seen Seifer disappear after confronting her.
Now we're being asked to do something much more serious: take part in an operation against the Sorceress herself.
⚔️ Preparing for the Mission
This part of the game has a completely different atmosphere. Instead of immediately throwing us into another battle, Final Fantasy VIII takes its time establishing the plan and showing us that defeating Edea isn't going to be as simple as walking up to her and attacking.
There's a sense of anticipation everywhere.
We already know how powerful she is. We saw what happened when Seifer tried to confront her, and there are still plenty of unanswered questions surrounding both of them. Yet the mission has been decided, and Squall's group must prepare to play its part.
Irvine's presence also becomes increasingly important. We didn't receive a sharpshooter for nothing: the plan will depend on everyone doing exactly what they're supposed to do when the right moment arrives.
And considering how things usually go in Final Fantasy VIII...
I'm not expecting everything to go according to plan. 😅
🔮 The Sorceress Awaits
What I particularly enjoy about this stage of the story is how much the stakes have changed without losing the mystery.
Who exactly is Edea?
What does she want?
Why did she take Seifer with her?
And perhaps most importantly, are Squall and the others actually ready to face someone with that kind of power?
The game has spent several episodes slowly building Edea as a threat. Now we're finally approaching the moment when watching from a distance will no longer be an option.
Sooner or later, we're going to have to face the Sorceress ourselves.

💭 Final Thoughts
This episode may be about preparation rather than a huge battle, but that's exactly what makes it interesting.
After Timber, Laguna's mysterious dreams, our arrival at Galbadia Garden, meeting Irvine and exploring the Tomb of the Unknown King, everything is beginning to converge toward the same objective.
The team is assembled.
The plan is taking shape.
And the Sorceress is waiting.
We've spent plenty of time becoming stronger and collecting Guardian Forces.
Now it's almost time to find out whether we're strong enough. 🔮⚔️
