As evening falls after a busy day, everyone rushes to return home. Walking along the city's illuminated streets, certain scenes stir the soul. Suddenly, one’s gaze falls upon a man sitting on the roadside pavement. Amidst the surrounding clamor of people and the noise of rushing vehicles, he remains deeply engrossed in his work.

A portrait of a man’s struggle for survival emerges. In the first image, we see him carefully handling a transaction involving sacks of rice kept in blue plastic crates. The red-checkered gamchha (traditional towel) draped over his shoulder bears witness to his day-long fatigue and sweat. The way he holds his hands reveals a habit of meticulous calculation.

His working environment becomes clearer: open crates before him display white rice alongside golden-hued flour or ground spices. Resting on the dusty pavement are his old, rusted weighing scales and weights—the very tools that sustain his livelihood. Nearby, the dynamic movement of passersby contrasts sharply with his stillness; amidst the rushing crowd, he sits motionless in his own little corner, perhaps counting the days and waiting for these very people to return home and buy his modest stock of goods.

Behind the city's glitz and glamour, many people spend their days in a constant struggle for survival. Every line of work holds a story and the dreams of a family. The moment captured in this image reminds us that life is not easy. While many of us live in comfort and affluence, for people like him, the primary goal of life is simply securing two square meals a day. Their struggle inspires us and helps us grasp the true meaning of life; thus, we should always hold them in respect and affection. They are an integral part of society, tirelessly working to ensure our food supply. There is much we can learn from their battle for survival.
