Sweets have a deep and unbreakable relationship with Bengali life. Starting from childhood, celebrating any happy moment in life or suddenly feeling down on a sad day, we are all familiar with a little sweet mouthful of tips. On a lazy afternoon of vacation or during work, it is a wonderful experience to visit a familiar sweet shop in the city. Seeing the appearance of all the traditional sweets arranged in rows behind the glass showcases, anyone's mind instantly improves.
Today, on one such afternoon, I had the opportunity to visit an old and trusted sweet shop in the city. As soon as I reached the front of the shop, the alluring aroma of pure channa and ghee-fried sweets hit my nose. As soon as I entered the shop, the eye-catching collection of sweets arranged in rows on the glass shelves was a feast for the eyes. Especially, the delicious and fried sweets made of golden channa on the plates are as beautiful to look at as they are delicious to eat. The mawa or kheer powder sprinkled on top seems to have increased the beauty of the sweets many times over. Seeing this scene, anyone who cannot control their greed is forced to stare for a moment.
For people who love sweets, sweets are not just a food but a kind of emotion. Standing at the counter of the sweet shop, a small sweet dilemma arises as to which sweet to take and which to leave. Each sweet has a different aroma and taste that disappears as soon as you put it in your mouth. These traditional sweets have survived for generations as an integral part of our culture and heritage. Despite the touch of modernity, the taste of these sweets of the old days still takes us back to our childhood memories.
When I came out of the shop with some sweets of my choice in packets, a strange peace was working in my mind. This small experience of buying sweets removes the fatigue of daily life and brings a new freshness to my mind. The joy of sharing these sweets with loved ones is different. May our lives always be as sweet and beautiful as these delicious sweets trapped in a box.
