A sunny winter afternoon means hot rice with fish soup and various vegetables for Bengalis. Today I will share with you one such delicious cooking story. This afternoon, I cooked tilapia fish soup with fresh beans, red tomatoes and new potatoes. Honestly, the cooking was so delicious that my heart was filled with satisfaction after eating. Let's see these cooking moments step by step through the pictures.
First, I cut the fresh tilapia fish brought from the market, washed and cleaned them well. Then, I fried the fish pieces in hot oil with a little salt and turmeric and kept them crispy. Look at the first picture, how tempting the golden colored crispy fish looks in the pan. The aroma of frying fish makes you half hungry.
After frying the fish, it's time to prepare the vegetables. Winter vegetables mean beans and new potatoes. I cut the beans into large pieces, washed them and drained them, as you can see in the second picture. On the other hand, to thicken the curry and thicken the gravy, I added red diced tomatoes and onion. If you look at the third picture, you will see that the tomato slices and onion slices are ready to cook in a black pan. The new potatoes were also cut into small pieces and steamed.
After completing all the preparations, I started the main cooking. First, I boiled some cumin seeds and bay leaves in the oil used for frying fish. I browned the onion slices and added ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander-cumin powder and salt to taste, and ground the spices well. When the oil started to separate from the spices, I added the potatoes, beans and tomato slices that I had prepared earlier. I stirred the vegetables with the spices for a while and covered it, so that the tomatoes melted and the gravy became creamy.
When the vegetables were half-cooked, I added enough water to bring the broth to a boil. When the broth was bubbling, I gently released the previously fried tilapia fish pieces. Finally, I sprinkled the coriander leaves and put them in a bowl to serve hot. See the last picture, the hot, smoky delicious fish broth, in which beans, tomatoes and potatoes are wonderfully mixed with the fish. The aroma of coriander filled the room. The taste of this fish broth with hot rice was truly incomparable. This simple home cooking made my afternoon special today.
