Does anything about this current age irritate you?. If not ‘many things’ to be more precise. Living in a world where sin is not just committed but is well approved by men can be one of those. And you can start imagining, how did we get here? The story can be very long. It takes me back to a quote I found sometimes on the net; ‘Hard times breed strong men, strong men build good times, good times breed weak men’. Ahh! What a cycle?
Sometimes we ask why things are not going as planned and the possible answer is the fact that we are not planning the right going. Still remember Hannah the wife of Elkanah in the Bible? Before getting there, we will be focusing on breeds; very focused on faith. I hope you pick something and work on it to change or better your life.
The world is over 8 billion currently in population, new children are still coming in daily and well, we keep celebrating the arrivals as others exit the stage also in the process. Ok, we won't be talking about those exiting and how they lived their entire existence; ‘that statement from Jesus, Let the dead bury their dead’.
Are we raising children right? I am talking of them fitting in the right purpose here. It has been a big ‘of no concerns to many’. The moment marriage is secured, the next thing is to reproduce and it goes on and on. A big pity indeed because coming back to the Christendom, many miss it here.
Coming back to Hannah, this was her earlier fate. “Ahh! I am married, no child, not to even talk of children. My co-wife has a handful of them”. A difficult pill to swallow in a society that is quick to criticize. The question is, what was God looking for or has been looking for right from inception; ‘God fearing children’.
Let's delve a little into the house of Eli and his two sons. This family had completely corrupted the temple of God as the sitting priest. The people were not concerned about this situation, as usual, everyone to his business. On the other hand, God was after a breed that will fit in his temple purpose and duties and this is where Hannah and her long barren situation fits in. Fortunately for her, she was able to pick up in spirit after that session in Shiloh. This is how the birth of Samuel emerged; ‘a new breed’.
We are still in such situations even in this current age. We are more about our personal things. It has been self, self and self. Everyone is trying to fit into the society, not minding whether the procedures are right or wrong. In the process, a population Earth with very scarce believers.
To conclude, let me add, the message here is very precise, God is interested in another breed that will fit in his purposes for his generation. How are you raising your children, how are you living?. How are you affecting your society? Or are you ok on how that current going is going?. If your children are not godly, what then are you boasting of? It is something worth drawing our attention to.
