Legend: The Best of Bob Marley & The Wailers is a compilation album by Bob Marley and the Wailers. The album was released by Island Records in May 8, 1984 and was produced by Chris Blackwell, Errol Brown, Bob Marley, Steve Smith and The Wailers.
It is a collection of greatest hit singles in its original vinyl format and is the best-selling reggae album of all time, with over 12 million copies sold in the US and over 3.3 million copies in the UK. It is also the 17th best-selling album in the UK. The album achieved worldwide commercial success and became one of the best-selling albums of the 80s. More than 30 million copies have been sold worldwide and it is currently the 20th best-selling album of all time.
The album was ranked #46 on Rolling Stone magazine's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list in 2003, and maintaining the ranking in the 2012 revised list, but dropped 2nd place to #48 in the 2020 revised list. Additionally, as of November 11, 2023, Legend: The Best of Bob Marley & The Wailers has spent a total of 807 non-consecutive weeks on the US Billboard 200 albums chart, the second longest run in the chart's history. It has also spent in the top 100 of the UK Albums Chart for 1,106 weeks as of 8 November 2023, the third longest run in that chart's history.
Legend peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200, becoming Bob Marley's highest-charting album in the US. It also has the distinction of being the second longest-charting album in Billboard magazine history. Combining its chart life on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Catalog Albums charts, the album has had a chart run of 2165 nonconsecutive weeks, surpassed only by Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon at 2166 nonconsecutive weeks. Additionally, as of December 2017, Legend has sold 12.3 million copies in the US since SoundScan started tracking album sales in 1991, making it the ninth best-selling album of the Nielsen SoundScan era. Legend was certified 13x Platinum in the UK and is the 16th best-selling album of all time in the UK, with sales of over 3,380,000 as of July 2016. The album spent in the top 100 of the official UK Albums Chart for 1,106 weeks, placing it third on the longest-running charts of all time.

Legend: The Best of Bob Marley & The Wailers is true to its namesake as this masterful collection showcases Bob Marley's immense talent as a songwriter and performer, as well as his revolutionary message of love, unity, and social justice. Legend is one of the greatest and most influential albums in the history of reggae music, as each track is a classic of the genre in its own right.
There are great songs on the album, but if I had to name one as my favorite, I would choose Could You Be Loved. It has an incredibly addictive beat and it's impossible to stay still while this song plays. It's truly a great work.
