Week Adrian Lenses.jpg

This is the #52nd edition of the "Week through Adrian's Lenses" weekly Hive and crypto news roundup.

Let's see what we have for this week.

Week on Hive

18 of 30 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup.

In the Spotlight

Freechain Participates at its First Film Festival. Votes Help!

Anyone who wants to watch the Freechain film can now do it. The ticket costs 12 USD and gives access to over 100 indie films, including Freechain, which can be watched and voted on. The winning film will be presented at the yearly festival in London and receive a cash prize.

LeoAds Contract Live

Well, before I read this announcement, I thought January 1st would be the day of the first LeoAds distribution. Looks like it's set up differently. That's the day when the contract went live. It says the time of the accumulation (buys) is not known to avoid front-running, but says nothing yet about the time of the distributions if I haven't missed anything from the communication(s).

Hive Core Development Report from @howo

Usually, he makes his reports in the monthly dev meetings. But this week he decided to make a post about them as well. He describes the good and the bad, and luckily, there is no ugly.

Eddie Earner Launches Its Last Project: EDS Dollar (EDSD)

Linked to HBD, EDSD will only distribute half of the HBD interest they collect from putting the HBD into savings. The other half is powered up to @eddie-earner account. EDSD will distribute EDS rewards instead of HBD. In their turn, EDS gives out HIVE rewards.

EDSD will be redeemable for HBD, 1:1, pretty much with the delay needed to withdraw the amount from savings (3-4 days).

So, in a few words, it's a Hive-Engine option that combines the stability of the HBD, with the growth potential of HIVE in the bull market, via EDS weekly rewards. Here are the details.

Marketing / Awareness / Branding

Hive Rally Car Goes to Monaco this Month

The driver of the Hive rally car (@ssekulji) announced that the crew was accepted at the start line of the WRC Monte Carlo Rallye race. He also mentioned 93 crews applied and only 70 were accepted.

He also shared how they prepare for the race, by watching onboard videos from previous seasons.

Over 6m USD worth of Content Rewards Distributed in 2023 on Hive

Is this a good marketing material? Despite our reluctance to market Hive for its blogging rewards, this title looks good, in my opinion. @geekgirl shared a report with us about that, including a breakdown of the rewards at the community level. The report also shows almost a halving of the dollar value of the rewards compared to the previous year, but that is explained by the bear market.

In total, in 2023, 13m USD were distributed to users from Hive inflation, @dalz mentions in a short presentation of the key figures of the year that ended.

Holozing Updates

Holozing held a background art contest and it was time for the results. In the same post, we also had the surprise bonus reveal of claiming advent calendar prizes every day.

Additionally, the litepaper was updated. I like how differences were highlighted.

WOO Crates Openable in a Few Hours

Crates from WOO will be openable in a matter of hours, as they announced not long ago.

Meetings / Events / Communities

Hive Sucre Starts a New Phase: Onboarding Workers

Hive Sucre continues their work toward creating a functional HBD circular economy in Sucre with onboarding workers, starting with one of the malls they partnered with: Holla Supercenter.

The idea behind this part of the strategy is to create the conditions so that the respective businesses could potentially offer bonuses to employees in HBD they receive from customers, which the employees can then use to buy products, for example.

Ruta Blockchain Community in Venezuela at 6 Years on Hive

They describe their numerous initiatives and accomplishments during 2023, many of which we covered individually in this weekly Hive news report throughout 2023.

Hive Argentina Presents Its Community

A beautiful presentation post from the Hive Argentina community, followed soon after by their first initiative, inviting the members to write about the celebration of Three Kings Day, which is going on now in Argentina.

Hive Cuba Reviews Their 2023

I read the AI-generated summary for their 2023 review (which is in Spanish), and I believe they left out something: their HBD-related accomplishments. I don't know how much they are related to the Hive Cuba community or if they are from 2023, though. But they are from Cuba. @manuphotos showed one or maybe two places in Cuba that started accepting HBD. And they can also pay their phone bills in HBD if I remember correctly.

Hive Ghana Live on Discord This Sunday

The Hive Ghana team will host a live voice meeting on their Discord server, on January 7th. From what I understand from their announcement, it's a regular thing for them.

Hive Content Creators Help Out One of Their Own

When nature unleashes its fury, it's hard for anyone to stand in its path and not be harmed. One of the Argentinian content creators on Hive had the misfortune to be in the path of such a storm and got injured, as the report mentions. Hivers were impressed by the situation and showed support in their own way.

Week in the Crypto World

More Wall Street Giants to Have a Role in the Same Bitcoin Spot ETFs

This is an interesting article. It shows how these giants move different pieces on the chess board without the regular people even noticing anything. I'm curious to see if now that it appears that Goldman Sachs may have a role in probably the biggest two ETFs, Garry Gensler will finally stop with the negative press on bitcoin, knowing that he worked for GS for a long time.

CZ Left a Void at Binance

Looks like a former talk show host is the largest shareholder in Binance - after CZ - with 10%. Apparently, she holds a big influence on Binance, particularly on marketing and investments.

In the meantime, CZ - who I believe voluntarily went to the US - now can't exit the US, despite trying more than once. How things can turn! One day you were God, the next just a (temporary! ) commoner, and others play with your business the way they want to.
