• scrittura italiana ben accetta
• contenuti originali
• rispetto e correttezza

Hello friends and members of Olio di Balena community!

Today starts the weekly "Best Author of the Week" contest number 12 in the Olio di Balena community!
I begin with a brief announcement that will cover a change in the upcoming contest

Starting with the next contest, the posting account for this contest will change, which will no longer be @odb-contest but will be @balaenoptera

At the moment this contest is the only active contest on Olio di Balena but in the future there will be other contests and other initiatives to incentivize the users of Olio di Balena posted by the @balaenoptera account and it will be much easier and functional that there is a single account that manages the various initiatives within the Olio di Balena community.

If you haven't noticed there are new rules in the Olio di Balena community.

Every Friday of each week I will publish a post in which I will announce the winner of the previous contest and select 4 posts published within the Olio di Balena community by 4 different authors.
I will only select posts that are not yet in payout at the time the weekly announcement is published.

My role is and will only be as a selector of posts because it will always be the members of the Olio di Balena community who will choose the Best Author of the week via a voting poll in a thread on Inleo.

The basic rules to follow when writing posts are the same rules given by @fedesox who is the creator of the Olio di Balena community:

• Italian writing welcome
• original content
• respect and fairness

To these basic rules I have added selection criteria.

In selecting the best posts I will consider multiple elements including:

Selection Criterion 1: The quality of the post.

• Minimum 500 words.
I will not consider posts with less than 500 words.
Important note: For dual language posts, only one language will be considered for word count.
• Citation of sources.
If you use images that are not your own, you must always indicate the source from which you took the images (image link).
Obviously the images must be copyright free and usable for commercial purposes.
If I find copyrighted images and I cannot easily verify the post author's license to use them I will not consider the post for this contest.

However, if the photos/images in your post are yours, I recommend that you include anywhere in your post that they are your own images/photos because you make it easier for the curator and most importantly respect the reader who may wonder where the images came from.

Selection Criterion 2: the level of interaction in the Olio di Balena community.

• those who wrote 0 comments during the week will not be considered even if they wrote a Pulitzer Prize-worthy quality post.
• you must have commented at least once on a post by another author published within the Olio di Balena community within a one-week time frame.
• if two posts have equal or similar quality it will be the level of interaction that will be the deciding factor for selection.

Selection criterion 3: a greater score for the use of the Italian language.

The Best Author of the Week initiative is open to everyone (Italian and non-Italian) but the use of the Italian language allows more chanches to be selected among the 4 nominations

The reason for this choice is related to one of the goals of Olio di Balena: to try to increase Italian language content on Hive.

If you are not Italian and you are a member of Olio di Balena you are always welcome on Olio di Balena but if you want to have more chanches to be selected as author of the week I suggest you to add also the Italian version/translation to your post ;)

Rotation Criterion:

To give more authors a chance to win this contest the winner of each contest will be excluded from the nominations only for the next contest.

Each week the winner of this initiative, the best author of the week, will receive two prizes:

• 60% of the weekly post rewards.
• will be placed on @leo.voter's curation list starting when @weeklytops announces the winners until Friday.
important note: leo.voter will only curate posts published using the Inleo editor.

Each week the beneficiaries of the "Best Author of the Week" post will always be:

• 60% Author of the Week

• 20% @weeklytops

• 14%-20% @odb-contest

• 5% @balaenoptera

• 0%-6% divided among the non-winning authors but only if they have participated in the poll

the selection of posts for the nominations was very simple because excluding my posts (being the selector I rightly self-excluded myself from the nominations) and excluding the posts of the two winners of the previous contest only five authors published posts with more than 500 words and among these 5 authors one author did not publish comments under other authors' posts in a time interval of 7 days.

Therefore, only four authors simultaneously met the selection criteria:

• post with a minimum of 500 words (second language translation does not count)
• writing at least one comment to a post published on Odb and written by another author.

So dear friends and members of Olio di Balena if you want to be selected among the nominations of this contest remember to write at least one comment under a post published on Odb by another author in a time interval of 7 days, try to write posts of at least 500 words and also try to vote in the contest poll because even this simple action will increase your chances of being selected ;)

Closed this small parenthesis of considerations and advices, it is time to show the new nominations!

You can vote until Monday at 10:00 UTC - 6:00 AM EST - 11:00 UTC+1 (Italian time) and the winner will be announced by the @weeklytops account.
